The Residue

What is called mind, is an astonishing power that resides in the Self. Gives rise to all thoughts. Apart from thoughts, there is no such thing as mind. Therefore, thought is the nature of mind. Apart from thoughts, there is no independent entity called the world.

In deep sleep there are no thoughts, no world. In the states of waking and dreaming, no thoughts, and there is also a world. In the same way as the spider emits the thread itself (the web), and it retracts back inside itself, so the mind projects the world from itself, and again absorbed in herself. When the mind comes out of the self, the world appears. Therefore, when the world appears (and real), the Self does not appear, and when the Self appears (shines) the world does not appear. When one examines persistently in the nature of the mind, eventually leaving it himself (as the residue).

What is called the Self, the Atman. The mind always exists only in dependence on something gross, can not stand alone. The mind is what is called the body or the soul that emerges as eyou That this body, the mind. If one inquires as to where the body comes first eyou thought, one discovers that stands in the heart. That is the origin of mind. Only eyou-eyou constantly think, one will be conducted there. Of all the thoughts that arise in the mind, thought eyou is the first. Only after the emergence of this thought the other thoughts emerge eyou.
